Airline Transport Pilot

The Helicopter ATP rating is the highest rating one can possess within the helicopter industry. Aircraft over 12,500 lbs. will require an additional type rating certificate.

Airline Transport Pilot Rating Requirements:

  • Must possess at least a commercial helicopter pilot certificate with Instrument rating
  • Must be at least 23 years old
  • Must read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Must have 1,200 hours of flight time (of which 200 hours must be in helicopters and 75 PIC in helicopters)
  • Must have at least 500 hours of cross-country PIC time
  • Must have at least 100 hours of night time (of which 15 hours must be in helicopters)
  • Must Pass an ATP FAA Written knowledge test Must have 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument time with at least 50 hours in flight, 25 hours PIC in helicopters
  • Must pass an FAA ATP practical exam
