Spring Fever

At Independent Helicopters we couldn’t be happier about this unseasonably warm early spring. Last year at this time we were still flying over a very frozen Hudson River, so we are really happy to see some green things coming back to life! Our tour-season has been kickstarted, our Easter Egg drop was a wild success, and we’ve even been able to do some fun stuff on the ground, like our upcoming 5k. You could definitely say we’ve been bit with spring fever! Make sure you check out our new online booking tool to get your spring off to the right start today!

Also, if you’re not already plugged in, definitely follow along on all of our social media channels to stay up to date with IH news and events.

Easter Egg Drop!

What’s more fun than an Easter Egg hunt? An Easter Egg hunt where the eggs are literally falling out of the sky! This past weekend we had a blast flying over Schenectady and dropping 3,000 eggs to a local hunt. It was so fun to see how excited the kids were and even more fun to see our pic featured in the Daily Gazette the next day. Everyone keep an eye out for more details on our Helicopter Paintball which is coming up on April 9th!

Girl Scouts and Aviation

Raise your hand if Girl Scout Cookie season is your favorite season. At Independent Helicopters we love hosting the Girl Scouts to teach them all about what we do, how the business has grown, and all of the potential they have to do great things not only within the Girl Scout program, but beyond! As a certified Woman Owned Business, cultivating a passion in young girls is one of the most rewarding things for us. They might not know it yet, but their potential is literally limitless. The girls are always so eager and challenge us by asking some really great questions. Girl Scout days are always a nice break from our usual day-to-day, and it’s so fun to share what we love. Lucy gets a really kick out of it, too! We’re looking forward to hosting some more troops in the coming months, and getting the Boy Scouts involved as well!

30 Things You Didn’t Know about LLS

Last Friday we were lucky to have a great turnout for our LLS Campaign Kickoff event at Billy Joe’s Ribworks. We are so excited about some of our upcoming events and really hope to get even closer to Matt’s goal of $100,000! Make sure you keep your eye out for chances to participate, like our Paint and Sip in Poughkeepsie, 5k at Stewart Airport, and our favorite, Helicopter Paintball!

In the meantime, here are 30 things we bet you didn’t know about LLS. Please help us end this horrible disease! 2015 blood cancer facts final_Page_1 2015 blood cancer facts final_Page_2

HeliExpo 2016 Recap

Time is flying, isn’t it? It feels like just yesterday we were down in Louisville, KY for this year’s Heli Expo. This is always a highlight of our year because it’s a great way for us to connect with other helicopter companies big and small and see what is trending in the industry. It was a great time and so fun seeing some new and old faces (we even spotted Sergei Sikorsky!). One of the coolest thing was being able to explore Churchill Downs and get some great night views of the racetrack. This is a beautiful venue and being down there got us so excited for warm weather and horse racing season!

Other fun highlights included Heather getting a chance to fly the little grey beauty in this last picture (an MD530F, so awesome), and getting to check out Robinson’s new R44 cadet for the first time. Overall, it was an awesome trip and we are already gearing up for next year.
